Now I have had time to digest our success at the Bedfordshire Business Awards 2023, I feel it is a good time to reflect and write about the last few weeks.
It has been crazy in the salon & barbers. With some staff enjoying their holidays, we have been inundated with bookings as we try to accommodate our clients as best can. We’ve had tweaks in all departments as Joe has changed his hours and unfortunately, Jared is no longer with us as he takes a break from hairdressing. Some good news though is that from 9th August we welcome Nia back to the team on Wednesdays and Fridays. Welcome home, Nia!
Thursday 29th June saw the whole team attend the Bedfordshire Business Awards 2023. We were nominated for 3 awards this year that we have never been nominated for before; Positive Impact Award, Business of the Year less than 50 employees & Employer of the Year. We are delighted to announce that we WON 2 of the 3 awards: POSITIVE IMPACT AWARD & EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR.
To win Employer of the Year fills me with huge honour as I work tirelessly day in, day out to make sure my team are given the tools to thrive and be the best people and hairdressers they can be. This award is a team award that I am delighted to share with them all!
The Positive Impact Award was the one that surprised me the most of all my personal accolades but one I am so proud of. As I strive to improve the mental health and well-being of my community and my industry, I was ecstatic to be recognised for trying to make a difference to those around me. This is a subject very close to my heart and I will continue to work tirelessly until more people are more open about their mental health.
We have also been nominated for the ‘Community Hero’ award at the Modern Barber 2023 awards in October. Similar to the Positive Impact Award, this is a recognition for our efforts to help our barber clientele become more open and talk freely about their struggles.
Thank you to every client who makes our dreams come true. These awards are for us all!
